The Torsion Tumblers design parameters were set out to provide a quiet, reliable machine that was capable of cleaning not only a suitable amount of brass ammunition cases, but which would also be large enough to handle small vehicle components. Throughout the Research and Development phase I tried various sizes/speeds of motors and gears, and various sizes of drum, settling on this final design.
The Torsion Tumblers design parameters were set out to provide a quiet, reliable machine that was capable of cleaning not only a suitable amount of brass ammunition cases, but which would also be large enough to handle small vehicle components. Throughout the Research and Development phase I tried various sizes/speeds of motors and gears, and various sizes of drum, settling on this final design. The final design incorporates a single phase 220v, 40w shaft driven motor with a rated speed of 1350 rpm. There is an incorporated protection system to prevent any overheating issues utilising class B insulation Whilst running tests on the final design, I used GunTap stainless steel cleaning media which is specifically designed to be the ideal size for cleaning brass ammunition cases. As well as cleaning brass cases, various other items were placed inside the drum to see how effective the cleaning process would be. These included brass jewellery and ornaments, and small automotive components. The internal dimensions are 200mm deep, 190mm diameter. This gives a volume of 5.6 Litres / 1.5 US Liquid gallons. Capacity is approx 1500x9mm / 800x5.56. (This is only half filled which is recommended for most efficient cleaning.) Comes with full instructions.
