Learn the parts of the machine and how to choose and change the accessories. Finish this one day workshop with completed pieces ready to take home and use! This class is recommended for those new to the sewing machine.Additional materials suggested but not needed, we will have fabrics on hand but if you’d like to choose your own these are what you will need:1 1/2 yard cotton fabric of your choice, light to medium weight1/2 yard cotton fabric of your choice, light to medium weightSpool/spools of thread to match fabric choices2 yards 1/4” ribbon or 1/4” cotton cording for drawstringTips for finding fabrics which will work well for this workshop:Fabric is sold in full and partial yard increments. Quilting fabric is a nice weight fabric for these projects and for learning. My Sewing Shoppe in Baton Rouge is a small fabric shop with a fun assortment of fabrics to choose from. Other local, online and chain stores have nice selections too, choose a fabric that both looks and feels good, if it’s rough, it usually won’t get softer when it’s washed! 100% cotton fabrics are the best choice for this workshop but a cotton/poly blend will be fine for the 1/2 yard piece needed. Silks, rayons, bamboos and other silky fabrics are not recommended for this workshop. Please wash and all fabrics according to their label (ask at the store if it’s not 100% cotton) before this class so they are pre-shrunk and the sizing used in manufacturing has been released from the material. You will not be washing the drawstring material being used.Class meets from 9:30am to 1:30pm. We will take a 30-40 minute break for lunch, which is included. We will provide water, please feel free to bring additional drinks. We have a refrigerator for your use should you prefer to bring your own lunch or any beverages. Please note any food allergies or restrictions when registering for class.Class dates:Saturday, September 9Saturday, October 28Saturday December 16Class meets at 5 East Franklin St, Natchez
