Rutland Refractory Cement

This refractory cement by Rutland can be used to set, coat, or repair firebrick that has been damaged. It is an extremely effective sealant for masonry-to-masonry joints that are less than 1/4 thick and can also seal air and gas leaks around coal or ash pit doors. Once the cement is heat cured it will withstand temperatures up to 2000anddeg; F. The tub contains pre-mixed cement for convenient application. The cement may be painted after it is dry.

A dry mix cement just add water sets and dries as hard as fire brick. Use to cast custom shapes replace worn-out fire brick or fill large holes in masonry firebox or as a solid stone bed. May also be used to build or repair outdoor fire pits. For indoor or outdoor projects. Rated to withstand up to 2200 degreef. Does not require heat to cure. Minimum 24 hour dry time. When used in a firebox clear all dirt dust and debris from the surface to be cemented. Lightly dampen the surface area with water. When casting have a trowel spatula and casting form handy before adding water. Only mix an amount that can be used in 20 minutes. Add 142 mL 5 oz of clean water to every 1.36 kg 3 lbs. of dry-mix. Allow to air dry for 24 hours prior to final curing. For best bonding and strength the first firing should be of low intensity to allow the water to be driven out.
