Free Postage. How to decoupage Decoupage is a hugely fun and calming craft for any age and any ability! It’s possible to decoupage pretty much anything, from our dedicated mache shapes, to tired wooden furniture that needs a bit of a spruce up. Read on to find out the process of decoupage, and how it can be applied to a variety of different shapes and surfaces. How to Decoupage Mache Shapes 1. Choose your decorative papers and either tear or cut them up into pieces. The smaller and more intricate the base, the smaller the pieces of paper will need to be. 2. Spread the glue onto the area to cover in small sections and place a piece of decoupage paper over the top. 3. Cover the paper in a generous amount of glue, and repeat until the entire shape is covered. Top tip! To create a consistent coverage, make sure to overlap the pieces of decoupage paper so that there are no gaps. 4. Leave to dry – this can take up to three hours. Top tip! When you’ve finished with your brush make sure to wash it in warm water to stop the glue from setting around the bristles. 5. Finish off your item with decopatch patchliner or a sharpie pen to add definition and the finishing touches.
