Why should watercolor painting be limited to paper? Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground enables you to use watercolors on canvas other fabrics wood plaster and hardboard and even metal plastic and glass Just brush it on and let it dry to create an ideal absorbent surface on virtually any material Manufactured by Daniel Smith to the highest standards this ground has a thick brushable consistency Apply it with a soft brush for a smooth finish or a bristle brush for a bit more texture One coat usually provides sufficient coverage but extremely soft materials such as unfinished wood may require two coats of Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground Nonabsorbent materials (metal plastic etc) should be lightly abraded with sandpaper or steel wool before application Because it creates a surface more absorbent than paper you will want to use less water with your paint than normal Experiment and see what works best for you If not framed behind glass we strongly recommend sealing your finished work with an archival spray varnish**Iridescent Gold 4 oz** This ground creates a luminous gold paintable area when applied to a white surface And because its semitransparent the ground allows the color and/or pattern of the surface its applied onto to show slightly through the iridescent gold sheen Transparent and semitransparent watercolors will add a glaze of color when painted over this ground modifying their color Add the ground to your entire surface or only in areas where you want to add iridescent gold effects For deepest gold apply two to three thin coats**Pearlescent White 4 oz** Paint on a beautiful pearlescent surface This ground makes a white pearlescent paintable area when applied to a white surface And because its semitransparent it allows the color and/or pattern of the surface its applied onto to show slightly through the pearlescent sheen Transparent and semitransparent watercolors will have a slight pearlescent effect when painted over this ground Paint an entire surface or just in areas where you want to add pearlescent effects
