Make your own custom fitted sheath or holster with Kydex, an industry standard thermoplastic. Sheets are 0.080" thick, 12" long, and 12" wide. We have a variety of colors for you to choose from. One side is textured, the other side is smooth. Colors are the same on both sides, except for the digital patterns, which are black on the smooth side. Colors are black (also available in 0.060" and 0.090" thickness), desert tan, coyote brown, olive drab, chocolate brown, safety yellow, safety orange, hot pink, EMT red, digital ocean, digital pink, and carbon fiber. If you've never used Kydex before, it is color fast, rigid, impervious to water, and keeps its shape despite normal changes in ambient temperature and humidity. It is the go-to synthetic material for retention holsters and sheaths. BASIC STEPS FOR MAKING YOUR RETENTION SHEATH 1) Trace the outline of your knife, leaving a good 1-2" space around it for your eyelets. Mark where you want them to go. Cut out the basic shape in rectangular form. 2) Heat the rectangles of Kydex at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes, smooth side down. They should be floppy. 3) Position your knife between the layers in a way that allows you to form a retention point, and use a molding press to clamp everything in place until the Kydex cools. 4) Once cool, remove your knife and tape the pieces together. 5) Drill the holes for your eyelets, add your eyelets, and then flare them. 6) Using a heat gun, gently soften and flare the opening of your sheath enough to allow for entry and tighten up any retention points. 7) Attach your rigging by repeating step 5 as necessary for Chicago screws or other fasteners or mounts, and you're good to go!
