The Adeptus Mechanicus are charged with protecting the sanctity of knowledge, particularly that of ancient technology pre-dating the founding of the Imperium. There are those, however, who seek to do more – dabbling in the blasphemous concepts of innovation and invention. Belisarius Cawl is one such free thinker, daring to improve upon the divine truths of established technology. Cawl's hubris is hotly debated amongst his peers in the Machine Cult, but few can question his results.
